Modules

  1. Receipt anatomy & evidence standards

What must appear on a claim file, how attachments fail, and when a photo is not enough.

  2. Sampling without theater

Risk tiers, random overlays, and documenting why a claim entered the sample.

  3. Duplicates, aliases, and split tickets

Vendor name variants, same-day patterns, and meal splits that evade simple rules.

  4. App signals vs. human judgment

Using OCR confidence and anomaly scores without outsourcing the conclusion.

  5. Exception narratives & remediation

Writing findings finance leadership can act on; tracking recoveries without noise.

  6. Capstone packet

A full reimbursement file from a fictional Korean subsidiary — messy, bilingual, and graded by peers.

FAQ

Do I need a specific financial auditing app?

No. Concepts transfer across tools. We reference common features (queues, OCR scores, vendor masters) without locking you to one vendor.

Is this suitable for absolute beginners in finance?

Probably not. If you have never approved or audited an expense claim, start with Ledger Glance or speak with us first — the pace assumes prior exposure.

What is a real limitation of this course?

We do not teach statutory tax filing or provide legal advice for Korea or other jurisdictions. Policy interpretation still belongs with your counsel and controllers. Mileage and per-diem edge cases get less airtime than meal and vendor receipts in the current syllabus.

How much live time is required?

Field Notebook cohorts include six critique sessions of about ninety minutes. Self-paced reading fills the gaps between meetings.

Course reviews

Module three’s alias worksheet paid for the tuition in our first recovery cycle. The capstone grading was stricter than I expected — fairly so.

Useful, though the Korea meal examples dominated early weeks. I would have traded one of those for a deeper mileage session.
